The short version

  • The App is free to use and supported by ads. You may use it for your own personal messaging.
  • Your carrier, not us, sends your SMS and MMS. Any charges from your carrier are yours to pay.
  • Your messages belong to you. Don't use the App to send spam, scams or anything illegal.
  • Keep your own backups. We can't recover messages that are deleted from your phone.
  • The App is provided "as is". Our liability is limited as far as the law allows.

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Infinity Lab Apps ("we", "us", "our"), the developer of Messages - SMS Messenger (the "App"). By downloading, installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App and uninstall it.

Your use of the App through Google Play is also subject to Google Play's terms of service.

2. Who can use the App

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country, to use the App. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the App only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

3. Your licence to use the App

We give you a personal, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use the App on Android devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in line with these Terms.

You may not:

  • copy, modify, translate or create derivative works of the App
  • decompile, reverse engineer or try to extract the App's source code, except where the law expressly allows it
  • remove or change any copyright, trademark or other notices in the App
  • rent, sell, sublicense or redistribute the App, or offer it as a service to others
  • interfere with, or try to get around, the App's security, ads or other features

4. SMS, MMS and carrier charges

The App works as your default SMS app. Text and multimedia messages are sent and received by your mobile carrier through your phone, not by us. You are responsible for:

  • any charges from your carrier for sending or receiving SMS and MMS, including international, premium-rate and roaming messages
  • mobile data charges for MMS, ads, translation models and other online features
  • checking that the recipients and phone numbers you enter are correct

We do not control your carrier's network and cannot guarantee that any message will be sent, delivered or received, or when. Do not rely on the App for emergency communication. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

5. Your messages and content

The messages, contacts, photos and other content you create, send or store with the App ("Your Content") belong to you. We do not claim any ownership of Your Content, and the App processes it on your device as described in our Privacy Policy. You are solely responsible for Your Content and for having the right to send it.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the App to:

  • send spam, bulk or unsolicited messages, including with scheduled messages
  • send messages that are fraudulent, deceptive or phishing, or that impersonate another person
  • harass, threaten, abuse or harm anyone, or send hateful, obscene or sexually explicit content involving minors
  • share content that infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy rights
  • send malware or harmful links, or break any applicable law or regulation, including laws on telemarketing and consent

You are responsible for following any laws that apply to the messages you send.

7. Features and their limits

  • Backup and restore: backups are saved as a file on your phone. Keeping that file safe is your responsibility. We do not store your backups and cannot recover messages that were deleted or lost before a backup was made.
  • Scheduled and delayed messages: these depend on your phone being on, connected to a network and allowed to run the App. Battery savers and other phone settings can delay or prevent them.
  • OTP detection and categories: the App sorts messages and detects one-time codes automatically, which may not always be accurate. Always check important messages yourself.
  • Translation: translations are produced automatically and may contain mistakes. Don't rely on them for legal, medical, financial or other important decisions.
  • Blocking and spam filtering: blocking depends on the numbers and settings you choose and may not stop every unwanted message. With "Drop blocked messages" turned on, messages from blocked senders are not saved and cannot be recovered.
  • After-call screen and pop-ups: these depend on permissions you grant and on your phone's settings. You can turn the after-call screen off at any time in Settings.
  • Usage access (optional): if you grant it, information about app usage is shared as described in section 5 of our Privacy Policy. You can turn it off at any time in your phone's settings.

8. Ads and third-party services

The App is free and shows ads provided by Google AdMob and its partners. Ads, and any products, services, websites or apps they promote, are the responsibility of the advertiser. We do not endorse them and are not responsible for your dealings with advertisers. Tapping an ad may take you outside the App.

The App also uses services from third parties, such as Google (Firebase, AdMob, ML Kit and Google Play services). Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for the availability or content of third-party services.

9. Intellectual property

The App, including its design, code, logo, icons and text, is owned by Infinity Lab Apps or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other laws. These Terms do not give you any rights to our name, logo or trademarks. Other product names and trademarks shown in the App belong to their owners.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, you allow us to use them to improve the App without any obligation to you.

10. Privacy

How the App handles your information is explained in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

11. Updates and changes to the App

We may release updates that add, change or remove features, fix problems or improve security. Some updates may be required to keep using the App. We may also change, suspend or discontinue the App, or any part of it, at any time, with or without notice. We are not obliged to provide support or maintenance.

12. Ending your use

You can stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or end your right to use the App if you break these Terms or if we must do so by law. When your right to use the App ends, you must stop using it and uninstall it. Sections 5, 9 and 13 to 16 continue to apply after that.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that messages will be delivered, or that data will never be lost.

Some countries do not allow certain warranties to be excluded. In those places, these exclusions apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing in these Terms affects your rights as a consumer that cannot be waived.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Infinity Lab Apps will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, messages, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the App, including undelivered or delayed messages, carrier charges, or loss of backups. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the amount you paid us for the App, which is zero for the free App, or USD 50, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

15. Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold harmless Infinity Lab Apps from any claims, losses, damages and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your misuse of the App, Your Content, or your breach of these Terms or of any law.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before starting any legal claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally. Any dispute that cannot be resolved this way will be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in India, unless the consumer protection laws of your country give you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.

If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours, for example as part of a sale of the App.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version at this address and change the "Last updated" date above. If a change is significant, we will let you know in the App before it takes effect. If you keep using the App after the change, you accept the updated Terms.
